Confidentiality Charter

As part of our use of Client information, this information may be processed by our staff and accessed by them in the course of their work at Proteus Europe. We will make our staff aware of the confidential nature of the information clients provide for us and take all steps that are reasonably necessary to ensure compliance by them with this Confidentiality Charter.

 We will only use client information solely in connection with the administration of Proteus Europe and not for our benefit or for the benefit of any third party (unless you have consented otherwise).

 Proteus Europe regards the lawful and correct treatment of personal information as very important and therefore ensures that personal information is treated lawfully and correctly.  To this end Proteus Europe fully endorses and adheres to the Principles of Data Protection, as detailed in the Data Protection Act 1998. This personal information must be dealt with properly however it is collected, recorded and used – whether on paper, in a computer, or recorded on other material – and there are safeguards to ensure this in the Data Protection Act 1998.

 Access to Information

The Data Protection Act 1998 gives you the right to access Information held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with the Act. Any access request may be subject to a fee of £10 to meet our costs in providing you with details of the Information we hold about you.

 Our main principles for ensuring client confidentiality include:

 providing clients with information about our confidentiality policy

  • collecting and recording information only if it is necessary for effective service provision, including assessments
  • being professional and appropriate in the language used in client records
  • being unbiased and non-judgmental in comments and assessments that are recorded
  • keeping client information secure and making sure that only those who are authorised to  do so can gain access
  • making sure information is up to date and accurate before it is used
  • having written consent from a client prior to information sharing
  • disposing of records safely when they are no longer required
  • representing client confidentiality in relevant agreements.
